Scorpions know how to write a resume

You can find a huge load of tips on writing a resume through the Internet and refer to experienced people who either hire or get hired. Anyway, they know how to make “a candy” from the information that is necessary for the potential employer and can tell the difference between a real specialist and “green” junior. But is it the same in the IT world? Or it’s better to ask is it the same at Mobilunity?

Should I follow the advice?

Everyday I hear stories about particular resumes or even listen to some quotes which definitely form the idea of how you should and shouldn’t write your job application. So, it will be easy for me to define the main points of this hell of a job, especially with help of your favourite stars and legends of music who really know the life.

When you write a resume, make it short and laconic as from the words of guys who have been playing together for 50 years (they surely know what they are talking about), people, particularly IT recruiters, are very busy and usually don’t have much time to read your life story. Cut it to one or two pages and just highlight your main skills and achievements. IT recruiting is no place for eloquence, be precise and accurate.

Describing your skills and knowledge, make sure that you point out relevant experience that can support your background and show that you have some practice. It’s very significant to emphasize your expertise with appropriate history. Because, you know, considering a php developer who worked as a pizza maker at “Mamma mia” is a little bit strange … unless we are looking for a programmer who will make Сapricciosa during coffee breaks :)

It’s wonderful if you have a lot of skills and know them on a decent level. But if you don’t, better follow the advice of these guys who know a thing or two not only about music, don’t lie. It’s clear that you want to grab recruiter’s attention by the number of programming languages you know but too much of a good thing is good for nothing. It’s always better to write the truth because sooner or later we will find out.

“Things I don’t understand” © Coldplay

“Why things don’t always turn out as you plan?”. It’s a very common question among resume writers and Coldplay knows how to hit where it hurts. When you describe your responsibilities, first of all, don’t overuse the terms and slang to impress the recruiter. Believe me, it won’t do. Just use commonly-used words and make your point. And, secondly, please, watch your grammar and spelling. Phrase “I can to do many programming” doesn’t look like a misprint so be careful with your English.

Main Tips to Make Sure Your Resume is Good

So, if we summarize the main points of a proper resume it appears that it isn’t very hard to make it the way it should look. Just remember that it is not necessary to write a composition: be clear and exact; be honest about your skills and second it with relevant experience; and, finally, make sure your resume is comprehensible and your language is correct. And, of course, listen to your music idols cause they, as you can see it for yourself, can not only delight your ear but also help you write a resume :)
