QA Team Lead

On behalf of our Client – a UK-based technology company specializing in transport retail and digital ticketing platforms — Mobilunity is looking for a QA Team Lead.

Our client partners with leading transportation operators to deliver innovative digital ticketing systems, scalable SaaS platforms, and customer-facing applications. Their solutions enhance passenger experience while enabling modern retail capabilities across rail and wider transport networks.

We are looking for an experienced QA Team Lead to take ownership of quality across our platform. You will lead a distributed, international QA team, drive testing strategy, and work closely with Product and Engineering to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Quality Ownership

● Own and enforce quality gates across the platform end-to-end
● Establish, track, and report on quality metrics
● Lead defect triage and drive defect lifecycle management
● Review manual and automated test cases for coverage and quality
● Own test planning for release iterations

Process & Standards

● Continuously improve QA processes in line with industry best practices
● Maintain and evolve process documentation
● Conduct risk assessments and escalate quality concerns to stakeholders

Cross-team Collaboration

● Build and maintain strong working relationships with Product and Engineering
teams
● Act as the primary QA point of contact for cross-functional initiatives

Team Planning & Delivery

● Define team priorities and manage workload distribution
● Provide work estimation for QA efforts across projects
● Assign tasks and oversee execution to ensure timely delivery

People Management

● Conduct regular 1-2-1s to support team growth and wellbeing
● Lead onboarding for new team members
● Carry out annual and mid-year performance reviews
● Participate in interviewing and hiring QA candidates

Must have skills:

Leadership

• Proven experience leading distributed, international QA teams
• Strong background managing both manual and automation QA functions
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical involvement
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Technical Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience in test automation
• Experience with at least one modern automation framework:
• Cypress
• Playwright
• Appium
• Experience with mobile application testing and automation
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and quality gates

Domain & Architecture Knowledge

• Experience testing payment systems and third-party integrations
• Understanding of microservices architecture and testing implications
• Ability to assess risks in distributed systems and complex integrations
• Willingness to learn the UK railway domain

Nice to have skills:

• Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6
