Mobilunity in Belgium in December 2019
Information and Communication Technology market of Belgium is recognized for its mature and prosperous environment that remains highly attractive for EU and non-EU countries. Despite being on a peak of its development, the marketplace is open for cooperation with other countries. In December 2019, we went on a business trip to Brussels to discover it for new opportunities.
ICT is the most dynamic sector of Belgium that adds 10% annually to the country’s GDP. Due to the market’s competitiveness and immense potential, in 2018, the Digital Economy & Society Index (DESI) claimed Belgium as the 8th in the list of European countries regarding digital economy development. One of the leading driving forces of country’s growing ICT sector is governmental support. In 2015, they started the campaign called “Digital Belgium”, which was aimed at expanding the marketplace with investing more in digital development and provide space of cooperation for European and overseas countries.
Belgium, like any other developed country, is facing a dramatic scarcity of skilled tech professionals to fulfill the required positions in IT companies. The marketplace is expecting an increase from 8,000 (official data in 2012) to 30,000 in 2020. That is why Mobilunity’s main purpose of the business trip to Brussel was to offer its nearshoring services to contribute to the advancement of European tech ecosystem.
