Senior Front-End Engineer

On behalf of our Client, a well-established financial institution from the Caribbean region Mobilunity is looking for a Senior Front-End Engineer for a long-term engagement.

Our Client is the largest bank in the Caribbean region that serves 14 countries/territories. The aim is to make this organization from a traditional bank into a new era of fintech, working on the edge of what current fintech may offer.

The Frontend Developer is a key player in the development and enhancement of our web banking platforms, with specialized focus on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance interfaces. This role involves transforming design visions into tangible products that directly influence how compliance officers and users interact with AML systems, ensuring responsiveness, efficiency, and superb user experience. The developer will collaborate closely with compliance engineers, backend developers, product owners, designers, and stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable digital banking solutions with robust AML functionality.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Web Application Development:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance high-quality, scalable, and secure web applications for banking and compliance platforms.
• Create intuitive user interfaces for AML case management, transaction monitoring dashboards, and regulatory reporting tools.
• Convert design mockups and wireframes into fully functional user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.

2. AML-Specific Interface Development:

• Build responsive dashboards for real-time transaction monitoring and alert management systems.
• Develop user-friendly interfaces for compliance officers to review suspicious activities, conduct investigations, and generate reports.
• Create data visualization components for AML metrics, trends analysis, and regulatory reporting.
• Implement secure forms and workflows for customer screening, sanctions checking, and case documentation.

3. API Integration and Data Management:

• Work closely with backend developers to properly understand and integrate APIs for AML systems.
• Integrate with compliance databases, sanctions lists, and regulatory reporting APIs.
• Handle sensitive financial data presentation while ensuring proper security measures and audit trail visibility.
• Ensure seamless data flow between frontend interfaces and backend AML processing engines.

4. Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with compliance engineers, product owners, designers, and other developers to define and implement innovative AML features.
• Work with compliance teams to understand regulatory requirements and translate them into user-friendly interfaces.
• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve overall code quality.
• Work collaboratively with designers to respond quickly to design changes and compliance requirement updates.

5. Testing and Debugging:

• Develop and implement unit, integration, and performance tests to ensure reliability and robustness of web applications.
• Test AML interfaces for data accuracy, real-time updates, and compliance workflow integrity.
• Debug and resolve application issues, and optimize application performance for high-volume data processing.
• Develop automation tools and continuous integration pipelines for daily tasks.

6. Security and Compliance Implementation:

• Implement frontend security measures specific to financial services and AML compliance requirements.
• Ensure proper handling and display of sensitive customer data in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Support the Information Security Management System and maintain security best practices.

7. Technology Leadership and Innovation:

• Keep abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in web development and fintech.
• Stay updated on AML technology trends and compliance interface best practices.
• Suggest and implement new technologies and tools to enhance application quality and user experience.
• Challenge ideas and opinions to avoid errors and inefficient solutions.

8. Documentation:

• Consistently document code and maintain comprehensive documentation of developed features and APIs.
• Document interface specifications and compliance-related frontend components.
• Contribute to technical specifications, user guides, and other technical documentation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or computing-related area.
• At least 4 years of proven experience as a Frontend/Web Developer with a strong portfolio of developed web applications.
• Proficiency in frontend languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and modern frameworks/libraries (React, Next, Angular, Vue.js).
• Deep knowledge of software engineering principles (SOLID, clean architecture, event sourcing).
• Extensive experience with RESTful APIs and understanding of microservices architecture.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Strong knowledge of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
• Upper-intermediate level of English.

Nice to have:

• Previous experience in financial services, fintech, or compliance systems.
• Knowledge of AML workflows, transaction monitoring interfaces, or regulatory reporting dashboards.
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud services (AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and DevOps methodologies.
• Understanding of financial regulations and compliance interface requirements.
• Professional qualification in computing area.
