A Glimpse Inside: Lessons Learned From Mobilunity’s Growth
Interviewer:
Before we move on to industry insights and practical tips, let’s get this straight: what’s behind the name Mobilunity, and does it somehow reflect your company’s culture?
Cyril:
“The name Mobilunity is a fusion of two core principles: mobile and unity. Mobile stands for the freedom of technical experts to work from anywhere. Unity, in turn, is all about the cohesion: across processes, relationships, and shared goals. For us, these two aspects are crucial for every successful collaboration.”
Interviewer:
What’s your takeaway from the journey that made Mobilunity the successful company it is today?
Cyril:
“To stand out globally, any company must define its specific position — whether we’re up against teams in Asia, Africa, or Latin America. In our case, we are mostly specialized in Eastern Europe.
The Formula for a Winning Partnership
And there’s another aspect that sets Mobilunity apart. The company has developed a specific framework called the three R’s of Nearshoring. Here’s how this focus defines the company’s niche and drives continued growth:
- Recruitment — as clients come to us needing hiring support; Mobilunity specializes in rigorous vetting, including specialized services like technical screenings and interviews;
- Retention — since we are fully geared toward long-term employee commitment, we heavily invest in onboarding (for some projects it can take even more than six months);
- Relationships — it’s all about a highly personalized approach and services tailored to perfectly match every client’s unique processes and communication preferences.
On Challenges, Business Strategy, & Growth Journey
Reflecting on Mobilunity’s journey, there are a range of aspects that help the company thrive and define its operational resilience. Explore the ones Cyril shares below.
Interviewer:
Scaling Mobilunity to over 200 employees must have been tough at times. What were the biggest challenges you faced during this journey?
Cyril:
“We operate in an environment where new challenges constantly emerge. Take COVID, with its full disruption of office-based work, or, most recently, fears that AI will replace developers and other roles.
Whatever the challenge, the key to facing such challenges is adaptability. Rather than looking backwards and dwelling on past methods, we focus on real-time responses.”
Interviewer:
You’ve worked with clients across the world and in different industries — what key lessons have you learned from those experiences?
Cyril:
“Every client is unique, and every company runs its business in its unique way. Understanding the specific requirements of every client is the biggest challenge and a lesson we are still learning.
Our approach differs significantly from companies that build a single solution for all, with the “you like it — you take it; you don’t like it — go elsewhere” approach. At Mobilunity, we act as a bridge between our clients and technical talent, keeping it as hyper-personalized as possible.”
The Impact of Giving Clients a “Fishing Rod”
Here’s another interview insight: metaphorically speaking,as an outsourcing company, Mobilunity gives clients a “fishing rod” instead of a fish. “By that, we mean not only supplying expert specialists but also providing the essential guidance and teaching the tips to effectively leverage remote talent — so that they could reach their full potential across projects,” comments Cyril.
“With the fishing rod analogy, we also make it clear that clients must remain engaged,” emphasizes Cyril. “Hiring someone doesn’t solve every issue, just as an in-house employee still needs management, motivation, and ongoing communication to succeed.“
Technology Trends and Client Needs: The Present and the Future
In this part of the interview, Cyril and the MobileAppDaily host discuss the future of development teams, workplace dynamics, and the impact of emerging technologies. Let’s dive in a few discussion highlights.
Interviewer:
How do you see the future of remote and distributed tech teams evolving post-2025?”
Cyril:
“Big things are happening, particularly in the AI space. Some predict it will complicate entry for juniors, while others believe it will create new roles.
In relation to that, I believe the following shifts will continue accelerating in the coming years:
- While no one knows where the AI revolution will lead us, one thing is clear: it will reshape the entire developer and project team dynamics. Ultimately, engineers will need to continue mastering extra domain expertise alongside their technical skills.
- The globalization of the development workforce may slow in markets like the UK, due to their unique financial ecosystems, laws, and major industry players, which require both in-depth local domain knowledge and technical and industry expertise.
- Hybrid models will soon outpace fully remote work, since even major companies like Google and Facebook come to recognize the need for personal connections and face-to-face collaboration for productive work environments.
Interviewer:
What are some major trends that you see shaping this industry in 2025 and beyond?
Cyril:
Over the past three to five years, we’ve seen significant growth in Employer of Record (EOR) platforms (Rippling, Deel, and Native Teams, to name a few). These platforms enable global hiring by handling financial, legal, and compliance challenges that clients once hesitated to tackle.
This way, these platforms have demonstrated that collaborating with global talent is effective. However, once companies realized they could hire worldwide, they encountered new challenges: sourcing and motivating those hires. While EOR platforms have expanded into recruitment, HR, and relationship management, many lack the human touch and built-in support for candidate engagement and ongoing interactions.
That’s where, again, Mobilunity steps in. We combine EOR platforms efficiency with personalized services and employee management support, ensuring efficient management of global talent
