Data Engineering Lead

On behalf of our Client from France, Mobilunity is looking for a Data Engineering Lead.

Our Client is a table management software and CRM that enables restaurant owners to welcome their customers easily. The app is useful to manage booking requests and register new bookings. You can view all your bookings, day after day, wherever you are and optimize your restaurant’s occupation rate. Our client offers a commission-free booking solution that guarantees freedom above all. New technologies thus become the restaurateurs best allies for saving time and gaining customers while ensuring a direct relationship with them.

Our client is looking for a senior-level Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise and leadership experience to help design, build, and scale a modern data platform in a fast-growing environment. This role combines deep technical ownership with the ability to guide and mentor a data team, establish strong foundations, and collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders.

You will play a key role in shaping data architecture, improving data freshness, and ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable data pipelines that support analytics, operations, and data science initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines (ETL/ELT)
• Own and evolve data architecture and data models across the organization
• Improve data freshness and develop low-latency or near-real-time data pipelines
• Implement and maintain data orchestration and workflow management systems
• Build and support data serving layers for analytics and downstream consumers
• Ensure data security, access control, and proper data segmentation
• Lead and contribute hands-on to data engineering work alongside the team
• Establish and scale sustainable data engineering processes and best practices
• Drive data governance initiatives and continuously improve governance strategies
• Support data science and AI/ML initiatives, including model deployment needs
• Collaborate closely with analytics, product, engineering, and business teams
• Mentor, coach, and develop data engineers, fostering a strong data culture

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience building and scaling data teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments
• Hands-on leadership approach: you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and work alongside your team
• Strong technical skills: SQL, Python, data modeling, and modern data stack tools
• Experience structuring and scaling data teams, building sustainable processes and foundations
• Experience leading data governance initiatives and iterating on governance strategies
• Proven track record of elevating data culture within organizations
• Experience building low-latency/real-time data pipelines and improving data freshness
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (PRs, code reviews)
• Familiarity with AI/ML model deployment and ability to support data science initiatives
• Proven ability to manage and mentor technical teams
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
• Upper-intermediate, close to advance English

Strong plus:

• Experience with Databricks
• Experience with Tableau and/or embedded BI tools (Metabase)
• Experience with AWS (S3, Appflow, Kinesis, etc.)
• Background in SaaS or food tech
